![]() ĭuring Ford's ownership of Volvo (until 2010), it used the term PTDi (petrol turbocharged direct injection) for the 1.6 L I4 engine when introducing Volvo S60 concept and for the 2.0 L I4 engine when introducing Volvo XC60. From the engine's beginning to November 2012, 500,000 Ford EcoBoost vehicles have been sold. Ford expected over 90% of its global vehicle lineup (includes North America) to offer EcoBoost engine technology by 2013. īy 2012, the company planned to produce 750,000 EcoBoost units annually in the US and 1.3 million globally in the world market. The smaller 1000cc-displacement 3 cylinder EcoBoost engine is produced both at Ford Germany in Cologne and at Ford Romania in Craiova. The 1.6-liter I4 EcoBoost engines are assembled at the Ford Bridgend Engine Plant in the United Kingdom. The 2.0-liter I4 EcoBoost engines were produced at the Ford Valencia Plant in Spain in 2009. The V6 EcoBoost engines are being assembled at Cleveland Engine Plant No. Some of the costs of US development and production were assisted by the $5.9 billion Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program of the Department of Energy. New pipe was £150 and the bracket velding was modified by volvo as can see on the attached picture. The volvo service engineer was laughing that they have known this issue in the d4 engines. ![]() My mechanic took out the engine, dismount the pipe and took to Volvo Swansea. The next problem was that this pipe runs behind the turbo, so the only way to take out this pipe if the engine completly comes out from the car. This velding was cracked and released the coolant. There is a stainless steel pipe coming at the back of the engine from the water pump, and there is a velded braket on the pipe. It was really difficult to find the issue but after a week (lack of experience) and dismounted almost the front of the car he found the leak. I said fine, the leak was still slow so I was not worried too much.Īround 3 weeks ago the leak was became a bit higher than before so I said to my mechanic, he needs to do the investigation and fix the leak before something major problems occurs on e.g. ![]() He was unable to do the investigation based on too much work, supply issue by brexit, and other pointless reasons. 2months ago I arranged the investigation with my mechanic and left the car at his place. He said need a more deep investigation to find the leak, I said ok, I was going to bring back the car when work was going to be lighter. I took Heidi to my mechanic (friend) and he did a quick look and he was able to recognize where the leak was. As the leak was really slow I assumed one of the rubber hose may became old and the coolant started to drop, also it was leaking only when the temperature was at 90'C. Around 3month ago the coolant started to disappear slowly, circa 500ml per month. I love the car since I bought it, also 2.5yrs old son loves the accerelation. I would like to share my latest issue with my V40 d4 r-design auto (2015).
