![]() However I could not figure out how to leave in the pins in the positions that don't have any additional connector they just push out when you insert the plug so I removed them When you add the override switch you have to pull these white pins out of this connector at the main computer in order to insert the wires for the override switch. The instructions don't call for you to add any grease when you assemble the gearbox to the motor but I added a little bit anyway. The override switch allows you to keep them in the down position or in the up position. The running boards themselves were only wrapped in plastic and there are also three boxes. I highly recommend adding the override switch because you are already running wires up into the cab and it is very nice to be able to keep the running boards down to wash them or keep them up if you are off road. I wish the wiring looms had extra wire in them for a nice clean installation. Otherwise than that the quality of the components is top-notch. I am just going to send it back and plug the adapter into my port and unplug it should I need to plug something else in there. So you would have to locate this new OBD in a different location and that seemed silly. In other words, you can't bolt it up where the old one was. That was a surprise and a little bit disappointing since plug-and-play was far from that.Īnother problem that I ran into is the splitter that they offer for $90 which is supposed to allow you to keep your OBD Port open does not match up with the two studs that hold the factory OBD port in its location. You're running boards will not work without connecting the white and blue wire to the grey and orange and purple and orange wires with the included posi taps. You would think with it being plug and play that's all you would need connect are the two purple wires. The one I received had the two purple plus a blue and white. Watching installation videos of 2019 and older models show the OBD adaptor having only 2 purple wires. You have two purple wires that come from the main CPU that come up into the cab too attached to the OBD adapter. I did all that ‐ extended the wires, relocated the fuse near the battery, and wrapped everything in split wire loom.Ī couple of problems that I ran into along the way is that the OBD Plug and Play is not at all plug-and-play. Wires to the passenger side however had to be extended about 5 or 6 ft as well as the wires that go to the battery. This gave me another advantage in that the wires that would have been short going to the driver side from the CPU now how would reach much further for a nice clean installation. With that in mind what I decided to relocate the main CPU over to the driver side where there was plenty of room. It would seem that there is enough wire if you more or less run the wire directly and are not trying to keep a neat clean appearance. When I got down to where the connector needed to attach to the motor I was about a foot short. I tried installing it where they suggest and running the wires over to the driver side and attaching them up underneath the cowling of the hood in a nice neat location. The instructions show it sort of floating above the vehicle and are not very descriptive on where they suggest install it. The instructions call for the installation of the main CPU on the passenger side of the vehicle just behind the battery. The install took about 10 hours but it was mostly because I was nitpicky about things. He noted, however, that SYNC 4 appears to have a different pinout and therefore if you have SYNC 4 you will probably need to wait until AMP Research determines if they're compatible or makes whatever changes are necessary for them to work properly. A fellow member here was kind enough to review the wiring schematics and determined that at least, the pinout for the 2021 to the 2022 had not changed with SYNC 3. I should first point out that amp has not officially released running boards for the 2022 and has not determined yet if they are compatible. Here are some photos from my installation of amp power running boards on my 2022 XL STX Crew Cab with SYNC 3.
